Council on Foreign Relations Future of Work Panel

June 1, 2020 Summer Foote

Business Talent Group Co-Founder and Co-CEO Jody Greenstone Miller joined McKinsey's James Manyika and Senior Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations Edward Alden to discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping work—with potential lasting effects on workplace environments, travel, immigration, and global trade.

From enhancing and modernizing the social safety net to investing in job opportunities and reskilling, the panel discussed policy challenges and opportunities that are front and center in the post-pandemic economic landscape. While the challenges of reallocating talent and addressing geographical workforce inequities are great, Jody notes that they also present an unprecedented opportunity to put in place the infrastructure and protections needed to move toward a more flexible labor model.

I think if we can move to a world where more people do have power, and freedom, and aren’t tied to a traditional work model, you will find people are happier and, over time, better paid.
