Expanding a Supplier Base in Chemicals Manufacturing

As part of a company-wide growth mandate, the marketing VP and COO of a global chemicals manufacturer and distributor wanted to expand their supplier base, particularly outside the Chinese market—both in and outside of Asia. Looking for help identifying and building relationships with potential suppliers, they reached out to Business Talent Group.

BTG delivered a seasoned purchasing manager with 30+ years of experience sourcing chemicals and materials for large companies across 12 key countries. The engagement entailed a two-phase project, beginning with identification of suppliers of chemical reagents, analyzing and ranking their fundamental qualifications, and selecting a short list to target. Phase 2 focused on market development, specifically establishing relationships and discussing partnership opportunities. The consultant was able to work closely with project management, quality management, and supply chain leaders to develop an actionable portfolio of vendors.
