Assessing New Recycling Models

The baby care division at a global consumer goods company was assessing the feasibility of a new approach to product recycling. Unfortunately, the brand team lacked the expertise it needed to assess potential business models.

This consultant began by assessing the competitive landscape, identifying other companies that recycle or compost the product category. He also evaluated the potential market size. Finally, he conducted a detailed operations and supply chain cost analysis—including infrastructure and implementation requirements, transportation fees, and estimated reclamation revenue—and worked with the client’s team to submit a final proposal regarding the program’s viability.
